Russia is hoping to sign deals worth $5.5bn (£3.5bn) with China as Prime Minister Vladimir Putin visits Beijing. The deals may lead to Russia selling more oil and gas to China - the world’s second-biggest energy user. About 30 contracts in infrastructure, energy, mining, transportation and telecoms have been lined up. Russia is keen to bolster its economy, [...]

I REST MY CASE! Does anyone else wonder how the Hussein Hopenchange administration can be dead wrong all the time? I mean, can’t they get ANYTHING right? Recent decisions to allow Russians to inspect our nuke sites and make it easier for the Chinese to steal our missile technology come to mind. Makes you think, doesn’t it? Yesterday, Hillary Clinton, the Queen of Cankles, the Princess of Polyester Pantsuits gave a speech in Russia at Moscow State University.

Do those who believe in traditional American traits of personal and individual responsibility, freedom, liberty and achievement just need to move? Are things better elsewhere? The issue isn’t whether it’s better elsewhere, but rather the degree of change that is coming to America and the drastic changing of expectations. A New Zealand, for example, already is fairly socialistic with regard to the US. BUT - people live on expectations, and expectations there are pretty set — here they are in enormous flux.

In response to InyoKern’s letter: The title of this discussion thread and the original text that went with it could just as well have been written by any of the well-scripted talking heads on mainstream F-TV (financial television). My initial inclination is to be diplomatic, but considering the exceptional economic times we are currently witnessing, I say, “Balderdash!” I could reasonably conclude that the majority of the readers of “Survivalblog” are more apt to follow unconventional economic

I was invited to participate in a discussion about Abkhazia and South Ossetia recently. There were, of course, quite a few Russians in on the discussion, and the talk turned to the USSR after someone mentioned that Abkhazia has just about stopped functioning since the collapse of the USSR; from what I understood from the conversation, Abkhazia is a rapidly-deteriorating time capsule of the USSR era. This was where the Soviet Russians (and one Ukranian) had their say.One of the participants said that the USSR was a wonderful place to be a child-”What do the kids have today?

Remember back during the campaign when Obama said this about potential VP choices?. Via Boston.com : I think a lot of people assume that might be some kind of military thing to make me look more commander-in-chief-like. Ironically, this is an area — foreign policy is the area where I am probably most confident that I know more and understand the world better than Senator Clinton or Senator McCain We are seeing how untrue this statement is with every passing day.

A Russian gambling ban that went into effect on July 1st, 2009 has had unintended consequences: many of the country’s millions of residents have started to frequent newly-formed internet cafes created specifically to offer online gambling. According to a recent article, the number of internet cafes has tripled since the summer ban, with many officials lamenting loopholes in the new law. “We are seriously concerned about the rise of surrogate technologies,” Moscow’s deputy mayor Sergei Baidakov said at a recent news conference.

October 15th, 2009 Posted in Ed’s BlogConrad Black on U.S. President Barack Obama: “This emperor still has no clothes, and it is not racism to notice it.” ZoomBookmarkSharePrintListenTranslateThe whole Obama era to date has been wasted in a historic, amateurish botch of the health-care issue. This began as a crusade for social justice — to cover the uninsured, whose numbers were suitably exaggerated, as most of them are people changing jobs from one health-insuring employer to another, or foreigners

So, apparently , a group of bleeding heart liberal pussies took a day hike up to the Arctic Circle to prove their religious beliefs about global warming. They made a bunch of measurements and found that the majority of the ice is first year ice and, on average, only 1.8 meters thick. Well, now they’re having a hissy because, according to their “water knowledge,” most of that ice won’t survive the next several summers and the caps will be virtually ice-free within the next 20 years. Pfft.

Para quem tivesse dúvidas acerca de quem manda na Rússia, aqui fica o esclarecimento: Asked by reporters about possible differences with Mr. Medvedev on Iran, Mr. Putin said late Wednesday, “Our president determines foreign policy. If Dmitry Anatolievich [Medvedev] said [sanctions are] inevitable, they’re inevitable. But if you look closely at all his statements and the context he made them in, you’ll be convinced that there’s no steel-and-concrete determination toward sanctions.”
